16Over the tribes of Israel, for the Reubenites Elieʹzer the son of Zichri was chief officer; for the Simeonites, Shephatiʹah the son of Maʹacah; 17for Levi, Hashabiʹah the son of Kemuʹel; for Aaron, Zadok; 18for Judah, Eliʹhu, one of David’s brothers; for Isʹsachar, Omri the son of Michael; 19for Zebʹulun, Ishmaʹiah the son of Obadiʹah; for Naphʹtali, Jerʹemoth the son of Azʹri-el; 20for the Eʹphraimites, Hosheʹa the son of Azaziʹah; for the half-tribe of Manasʹseh, Joʹel the son of Pedaʹiah; 21for the half-tribe of Manasʹseh in Gilead, Iddo the son of Zechariʹah; for Benjamin, Ja-asiʹel the son of Abner; 22for Dan, Azʹarel the son of Jeroʹham. These were the leaders of the tribes of Israel. 23David did not number those below twenty years of age, for the Lord had promised to make Israel as many as the stars of heaven. 24Joʹab the son of Zeruʹiah began to number, but did not finish; yet wrath came upon Israel for this, and the number was not entered in the chronicles of King David.
25Over the king’s treasuries was Azʹmaveth the son of Adʹi-el; and over the treasuries in the country, in the cities, in the villages and in the towers, was Jonathan the son of Uzziʹah; 26and over those who did the work of the field for tilling the soil was Ezri the son of Chelub; 27and over the vineyards was Shimʹe-i the Raʹmathite; and over the produce of the vineyards for the wine cellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite. 28Over the olive and sycamore trees in the Shepheʹlah was Baʹal-haʹnan the Gedeʹrite; and over the stores of oil was Joʹash. 29Over the herds that pastured in Sharon was Shitrai the Sharʹonite; over the herds in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai. 30Over the camels was Obil the Ishʹmaelite; and over the she-asses was Jehdeʹiah the Meronʹothite. Over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagrite. 31All these were stewards of King David’s property.
32Jonathan, David’s uncle, was a counselor, being a man of understanding and a scribe; he and Jehiʹel the son of Hachʹmoni attended the king’s sons. 33Ahithʹophel was the king’s counselor, and Hushai the Archite was the king’s friend. 34Ahithʹophel was succeeded by Jehoiʹada the son of Benaiʹah, and Abiʹathar. Joʹab was commander of the king’s army.
