1 Chronicles 2

¹These are the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Isʹsachar, Zebʹulun, ²Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphʹtali, Gad, and Asher. ³The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, and Shelah; these three Bath-shuʹa the Canaanitess bore to him. Now Er, Judah’s first-born, was wicked in the sight of the Lord, and he slew him. ⁴His daughter-in-law Tamar also bore him Perez and Zerah. Judah had five sons in all.

⁵The sons of Perez: Hezron and Hamul. ⁶The sons of Zerah: Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Calcol, and Dara, five in all. ⁷The sons of Carmi: Achar, the troubler of Israel, who transgressed in the matter of the devoted thing; ⁸and Ethan’s son was Azariʹah.

⁹The sons of Hezron, that were born to him: Jerahʹmeel, Ram, and Cheluʹbai. ¹⁰Ram was the father of Amminʹadab, and Amminʹadab was the father of Nahshon, prince of the sons of Judah. ¹¹Nahshon was the father of Salma, Salma of Boʹaz, ¹²Boʹaz of Obed, Obed of Jesse. ¹³Jesse was the father of Eliʹab his first-born, Abinʹadab the second, Shimʹe-a the third, ¹⁴Nethanʹel the fourth, Raddai the fifth, ¹⁵Ozem the sixth, David the seventh; ¹⁶and their sisters were Zeruʹiah and Abʹigail. The sons of Zeruʹiah: Abiʹshai, Joʹab, and Asʹahel, three. ¹⁷Abʹigail bore Amaʹsa, and the father of Amaʹsa was Jether the Ishʹmaelite.

¹⁸Caleb the son of Hezron had children by his wife Azuʹbah, and by Jerʹioth; and these were her sons: Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon. ¹⁹When Azuʹbah died, Caleb married Ephrath, who bore him Hur. ²⁰Hur was the father of Uri, and Uri was the father of Bezʹalel.

²¹Afterward Hezron went in to the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead, whom he married when he was sixty years old; and she bore him Segub; ²²and Segub was the father of Jaʹir, who had twenty-three cities in the land of Gilead. ²³But Geshur and Aram took from them Havʹvoth-jaʹir, Kenath and its villages, sixty towns. All these were descendants of Machir, the father of Gilead. ²⁴After the death of Hezron, Caleb went in to Ephʹrathah, the wife of Hezron his father, and she bore him Ashhur, the father of Tekoʹa.

²⁵The sons of Jerahʹmeel, the first-born of Hezron: Ram, his first-born, Bunah, Oren, Ozem, and Ahiʹjah. ²⁶Jerahʹmeel also had another wife, whose name was Atʹarah; she was the mother of Onam. ²⁷The sons of Ram, the first-born of Jerahʹmeel: Maʹaz, Jamin, and Eker. ²⁸The sons of Onam: Shamʹmai and Jada. The sons of Shamʹmai: Nadab and Abiʹshur. ²⁹The name of Abiʹshur’s wife was Abʹihail, and she bore him Ahban and Molid. ³⁰The sons of Nadab: Seled and Apʹpa-im; and Seled died childless. ³¹The sons of Apʹpa-im: Ishi. The sons of Ishi: Sheshan. The sons of Sheshan: Ahlai. ³²The sons of Jada, Shamʹmai’s brother: Jether and Jonathan; and Jether died childless. ³³The sons of Jonathan: Peleth and Zaza. These were the descendants of Jerahʹmeel. ³⁴Now Sheshan had no sons, only daughters; but Sheshan had an Egyptian slave, whose name was Jarha. ³⁵So Sheshan gave his daughter in marriage to Jarha his slave; and she bore him Attai. ³⁶Attai was the father of Nathan and Nathan of Zabad. ³⁷Zabad was the father of Ephlal, and Ephlal of Obed. ³⁸Obed was the father of Jehu, and Jehu of Azariʹah. ³⁹Azariʹah was the father of Helez, and Helez of Ele-aʹsah. ⁴⁰Ele-aʹsah was the father of Sismai, and Sismai of Shallum. ⁴¹Shallum was the father of Jekamiʹah, and Jekamiʹah of Elishʹama.

⁴²The sons of Caleb the brother of Jerahʹmeel: Mareʹshah his first-born, who was the father of Ziph. The sons of Mareʹshah: Hebron. ⁴³The sons of Hebron: Korah, Tapʹpuah, Rekem, and Shema. ⁴⁴Shema was the father of Raham, the father of Jorʹke-am; and Rekem was the father of Shamʹmai. ⁴⁵The son of Shamʹmai: Maʹon; and Maʹon was the father of Beth-zur. ⁴⁶Ephah also, Caleb’s concubine, bore Haran, Moza, and Gazez; and Haran was the father of Gazez. ⁴⁷The sons of Jahʹdai: Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah, and Shaʹaph. ⁴⁸Maʹacah, Caleb’s concubine, bore Sheber and Tirʹhanah. ⁴⁹She also bore Shaʹaph the father of Madmanʹnah, Sheva the father of Machbeʹnah and the father of Gibʹe-a; and the daughter of Caleb was Achsah. ⁵⁰These were the descendants of Caleb.

The sons of Hur the first-born of Ephʹrathah: Shobal the father of Kirʹiath-jeʹarim, ⁵¹Salma, the father of Bethlehem, and Hareph the father of Beth-gader. ⁵²Shobal the father of Kirʹiath-jeʹarim had other sons: Haroʹeh, half of the Menuʹhoth. ⁵³And the families of Kirʹiath-jeʹarim: the Ithrites, the Puthites, the Shuʹmathites, and the Mishʹraites; from these came the Zoʹrathites and the Eshʹtaolites. ⁵⁴The sons of Salma: Bethlehem, the Netophʹathites, Atʹroth-beth-joʹab, and half of the Manʹahaʹthites, the Zorites. ⁵⁵The families also of the scribes that dwelt at Jabez: the Tiʹrathites, the Shimʹe-athites, and the Suʹcathites. These are the Kenʹites who came from Hammath, the father of the house of Rechab.
