A Night Prayer

¹Answer me when I call,

God, who vindicates me. ^b,^c

You freed me from affliction; ^d

be gracious to me and hear my prayer.

²How long, exalted ones, ^e will my honor be insulted? ^f

How long will you love what is worthless ^g

and pursue a lie? Selah

³Know that the Lord has set apart

the faithful for himself;

the Lord will hear when I call to him.

⁴Be angry ^h and do not sin; ⁱ

reflect in your heart while on your bed and be silent. ^j Selah

⁵Offer sacrifices in righteousness ^k,^l

and trust in the Lord. ^m

⁶Many are asking, “Who can show us anything good? ”

Let the light of your face shine on us, Lord. ⁿ

⁷You have put more joy in my heart

than they have when their grain and new wine abound. ^o

⁸I will both lie down and sleep in peace, ^p

for you alone, Lord, make me live in safety. ^q
