Genesis is often misunderstood as a series of stories about “heroes of the faith.” Upon closer inspection, Genesis 13 reveals a narrative far more complex and interesting. Abraham’s actions, though apparently pragmatic and selfless, actually undercut God’s plans. Yet, despite Abram’s repeated wavering, we’re reminded again and again that God is secure and faithful in his promises.
