Does it matter In this Seven Minute Seminary video, Dr. John Oswalt explains reasons to believe the event was in fact a historical reality. He focuses on three questions: 1) Does it matter whether the exodus was a historical event? 2) What is the difference between “historical” and history? 3) What do we learn from the exodus? He concludes that the reason we can know God is because of what he did in human history, and the exodus is the basis for the conviction that Israel was uniquely called by God. The unique claims of the character of Israel’s God are also difficult to explain without historical realities such as the exodus. This parallels the resurrection of Jesus Christ in the New Testament, which Paul has strong convictions about in 1 Cor. 15:17. Through God’s actions in the exodus and other miraculous events, the we learn about his faithfulness to his promises and his unfailing love. // Study the Book of Isaiah: Part 1 with John Oswalt: https://my.seedbed.com/product/the-book-of-isaiah-ch-1-39-onebook-daily-weekly/ // Study the Book of Isaiah: Part 2 with John Oswalt: https://my.seedbed.com/product/the-book-of-isaiah-ch-40-55-onebook-daily-weekly/ // Study the Book of Isaiah: Part 3 with John Oswalt: https://my.seedbed.com/product/the-book-of-isaiah-ch-56-66-onebook-daily-weekly/
